Form 5500 Instructions

 


These instructions reference the following reports and documents from your 401k software and companion materials:

• Employee Census -- All Employees

• Employee Census -- Terminated Employees

• Year End Auditor's Worksheet

• Yearly 5500 Summary Worksheet

• Year to Date ADP Test Correction

• Year to Date Distributions

• Adoption Agreement

Form 5500 Is For Other Than One-Participant Plans Only…

Retirement plans EXCEPT those that fit the IRS' definition of a One-Participant Retirement Plan must file Form 5500 each year to report on the employee benefit plan (one-participant plans file Form 5500-EZ).

The four-page Form 5500 and its accompanying Schedules are due to the IRS by July 31st of each year. (For non January to December plan years, file by the last day of the seventh month after the close of your plan year.)
